This course is designed to introduce the student to English poetry in terms of its essential features as a literary genre. By focusing on the various types of poetry and the main characteristics of each type supported with examples in addition to illustrating the poetic devices and the major elements of poetry. By the end of the course, the students should gain not only knowledge of the component of poetry, but also an appreciation of poems as literary pieces.
