: Family members as health care providers develops a climate of emotional instability in their daily interaction with family member having bipolar disorder in their respective home environment. The aim of this study was to assess expressed emotions among health care providers towards patients with bipolar disorders. Research Design: Descriptive cross sectional design was utilized in this study. Setting: The study was conducted at an outpatient clinic in a Mental Health facility in Saudi Arabia affiliated with the ministry of health. Sample: a convenient sample of (124) caregivers of patients with bipolar disorders. Tools: I) interviewing questionnaire) to assess socio-demographic characteristics of the patients with bipolar disorders. Socio-demographic characteristics of the families (c) medical history of the patients. I) Expressed emotions scale. Results of this study: Comparison of levels of expressed emotions revealed that frequency of over involvement was found in 73%, criticism and hostility were found in 65% and the warmth and positive remark were found in 59%. Conclusion: The study concluded that caregivers of patients with bipolar disorders showed low expressed emotions. Recommendations: A structured support programs, rehabilitation programs, workshop for the health care providers focused on behavior management, stress management, community resources.
