The college was founded in 1417 H under the name of the intermediate college affiliated with the General Administration of Girls' Education. In 1422 H, it was converted to a College of Education ushering some departments, namely the Department of Islamic Studies, the Department of Arabic Language, the Department of English Language, and the Department of Mathematics. In 1425 H it was annexed to the Riyadh University for Girls under the umbrella of the Ministry of Higher Education along with 23 other colleges in accordance to the Royal Decree 3139 dated 18/4/1427 H. This college was later renamed University of Princess Noura Bent Abdel-rahman. Upon the issuance of the decision no. 1/20/2 dated 1/1/1430 H, the college was annexed to King Saud University. This lasted until the Royal Decree 7305 dated 3/9/1430 came into existence to establish Shaqra University to incorporate 21 colleges among them are the colleges located in Hurimlaa. In 1431 H, the layout of the college was restructured as the College of Science and Humanities with male and female different campuses and several departments. The credit hour system was applied with two semesters annually and a summer semester if needed. |
