Students from the College of Engineering at Shaqra University have achieved first place among participating Saudi universities in the 8th edition of the Robotics Challenge. The competition was hosted by Effat University under the patronage of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). The event aims to empower and enhance the capabilities of Saudi university students in providing innovative system solutions to serve the community.
The winning team from the College of Engineering includes students Mohammed bin Ismail Al-Barsan, Mansour bin Abdulaziz Al-Omari, Zayed bin Mutlaq Al-Otaibi, and Yazid bin Bassam Awlqi. They presented an engineering project that involves designing and manufacturing an intelligent automated system to help organize and distribute medications for the elderly and people with special needs.
On this occasion, the university president, Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Al-Saif, honored the winning students by awarding them commemorative shields. He also listened to a detailed explanation of their participation in the competition, in the presence of the university’s vice presidents and several officials.
Dr. Al-Saif congratulated the winning students, highlighting this achievement as an addition to the university’s accomplishments in scientific forums both locally and internationally. He wished them and all Shaqra University students continued success and excellence.
The competition garners significant attention from engineering and technology specialists, as represented by the IET. It also provides an opportunity for students to meet with experts, enthusiasts, and peers from other universities, learn about best practices in designing and building intelligent system solutions, and work on developing their engineering and technical skills to create innovative solutions.

Shaqra University has secured three medals—one gold and two silver—at the 49th Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions 2024, held from April 17 to 21. The university showcased its research projects, inventions, and innovations at the event, leading to this international recognition.
The gold medal was awarded to Dr. Mohammad Tabish and his team from the College of Medicine for their invention, the "Electroconvulsiometer for Anti-Convulsant Activity."
The silver medal-winning invention, "Detecting Cyberattacks Targeting Internet of Things Environments," was presented by Dr. Bandar Alotaibi and Dr. Munif Alotaibi from the College of Computer Science and Information Technology. This invention also received the Thailand Award for Best International Invention and Innovation, presented by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT).
Another silver medal was awarded to Dr. Tabish and his team for their invention, "Herbal Formulation for the Prevention and Management of Atherosclerosis."

Under the patronage of Shaqra University President, Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Al-Saif, SU celebrated the 94th National Day on Tuesday, March 21, 1446 AH, corresponding to September 24, 2024. The event was held in the main lobby of SU administration building on Shaqra campus. Attendees included SU’s vice presidents, His Excellency the Governor of Shaqra, Mr. Adel Al-Bouwardi, several directors of government departments, deans, vice deans, faculty members, staff, and students.
The celebration commenced with the national anthem, followed by a recitation from the Holy Quran. Attendees were then presented with a series of visual materials commemorating the 94th National Day, including the film We are Saudi, which underscored the significance of pride in Saudi identity, and Sons of the Nation, a tribute to the nation's progress made possible by the dedication of its loyal citizens. The ceremony also featured the recitation of a poem titled "We Prevail", delivered by an SU student.
In his address, Dr. Al-Saif extended his heartfelt congratulations on behalf of himself and SU to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and to His Royal Highness Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz—may Allah protect them. He stated, "Year after year, our Kingdom shines in its era of excellence and innovative leadership, drawing the contours of determination and innovation, and demonstrating to the world the true spirit of unity and brotherhood. With each passing year, we reaffirm that citizenship is both a belief and a deeply ingrained principle that has shaped us from birth."
Dr. Al-Saif continued: "94 years have passed during which our Kingdom has been blessed with a succession of great kings and loyal leaders to whom we pledge allegiance and express our gratitude. For 94 years, our homeland has enjoyed prosperity and looked towards the future with unwavering resolve and visionary leadership. It is with great pride that we declare: we are Saudis. O Allah, safeguard our nation's security, prosperity, and stability, and protect it from all harm!"
The ceremony also featured an exhibition, organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs, titled We Dream and Achieve. The exhibition showcased the top entries from the recent 94th National Day competition, which invited submissions in four categories: best tweet, best article, best expressive image, and best National Day design. In addition, attendees enjoyed a live painting exhibition, which highlighted the remarkable creativity and talent of the university’s students as they expressed their national pride through various artistic mediums.

Shaqra University, through its Colleges of Medicine in both Shaqra and Dawadmi, in collaboration with the general hospitals of the respective governorates, launched a three-day seasonal flu vaccination campaign. The initiative targeted university students, faculty, staff, and members of the broader local community in both regions.
The vaccination campaign was held in the main lobby of the administration building on Shaqra’s campus and the lobby of the College of Medicine in Dawadmi, providing easy access to beneficiaries. In addition to administering vaccinations, the campaign featured an informative lecture aimed at raising awareness about the flu, its symptoms, and preventative measures. The vaccinations were administered by staff from SU’s Colleges of Medicine, alongside healthcare professionals from Shaqra General Hospital and Dawadmi General Hospital.
This initiative is part of SU’s ongoing commitment to fostering community partnerships and promoting public health and disease prevention. The campaign saw a strong turnout, drawing participants from various segments of society.

He emphasized that these collective efforts reflect a strong sense of responsibility and professional trust placed upon the shoulders of SU's personnel. He also highlighted that the forthcoming period demands even greater commitment to achieve further milestones and continue enhancing the university's services, infrastructure, and educational outcomes.
