The liquid-solid interaction in aqueous mixtures containing gypsum and an increasing amount of alite is studied. The behaviour of the solid phases is followed by means of X-ray diffraction analysis, the solution composition and the pH-values are determined. In the presence of alite, the instantaneous solubility of gypsum is low but increases rapidly to constant values. Higher concentrations of alite depress the solubility curve of gypsum which X-ray diffraction patterns become undetectable under these conditions. (orig.).
