The course describes the main characteristics of the Victorian era (political, social, literary, and economic). It also offers the characteristics of Victorian poetry such as dramatic monologue, narrative, and length. The course also identifies the main themes of Victorian poetry such as isolation, despair, death, religious differences; however, there are some romantic themes with a Victorian perspective such as the last ride together by Robert Browning and the romance of swan's nest by Elizabeth Browning.
