Committees play a vital role in supporting the council of civil engineering department. Particularly, in the implementation of the strategic and operational plans, ensuring a continuous improvement of quality assurance within the department, and acting as an institutional linkage between the department and the college. All Departmental committees are advisory and recommendatory to the department council. 

Strategic Planning Committee (SPC)

Responsibilities of the SPC:

  a) Head of the Committee:

  1. Arrange meetings with the respective members and write minutes of meetings/reports (i.e. actions taken, operational and strategic plans, status of assigned tasks, etc.) related to strategic planning in the department.
  2. Prepare and follow up the strategic and operational plans to achieve the mission of the program and the college in its three main directions: academic, research and community services.
  3. Coordinate and provide required documents to committees, quality criteria, program chair, the College, the University related to strategic planning when necessary.
  4. Prepare and submit an achievement report at the end of the academic year to the program coordinator.

  b) General Responsibilities of the Committee:

  1. Reviewing and updating the CE program vision and mission.
  2. Modifying the strategic goals of the CE program.
  3. Preparing an action plan to spread the vision and mission of the program after being approved by the department board.
  4. Preparing and processing environmental analysis (SWOT Analysis).
  5. Formulating the sub-goals and preparing the Strategic plan and benchmarks.
  6. Formulating the Operational plan and benchmarks.
  7. Follow up the implementation of the Operation and Strategic Plans.
  8. Providing technical support to the committees related to the Strategic and Operation plans.
  9. Analyzing data and information related to implementing the strategic plan.
  10. Making the operation plan report for CE department with evidences.

  a) Head of the Committee:

  3. Coordinate and provide required documents to committees, quality criteria, program chair, the College, the University when necessary.
  4. Prepare and submit an achievement report at the end of the academic year to the program coordinator.

  b) General Responsibilities of the Committee:

  1. Update College Guide, Academic Plan, and Courses Flow Charts as and when required.
  2. Prepare Course Description Forms and Course Equivalence Forms for the transferring students.
  3. Keep one copy of the latest textbook of each course in the Display Room.
  4. Student’s Assessment Policy of the department (Theory and lab courses assessment methods and the respective weightages).
  5. Preparations to initiate Graduate Program in Civil Engineering

  3. Prepare course timetables and attendance sheets and distribute to the respective faculty members.
  4. Midterm and Final examination schedule and result submission.
  5. Manage the examination control process
