Research Excellence Award

About the Award

In order to achieve its strategic goals of achieving a distinguished scientific, research, and service level to enhance all its administrative, academic, research, and service activities, and to encourage distinguished good practices and celebrate all the staff of the university with outstanding performance, the Shaqra University, represented by the Deanship of Scientific Research, launched the Shaqra University Award for Research Excellence. This aims to encourage the university staff to engage in positive competition for creativity and achieving research excellence.

Award Branches and Fields

The award includes all academic specialties at the university that fall within the university's research priorities and local community issues that are determined by the university. The award has the following branches:

1. First category: Research Excellence Award in Scientific Fields, at two levels (Gold and Silver awards), which includes specialties in natural sciences, engineering, and computer science.

2. Second category: Research Excellence Award in Medical Fields, at two levels (Gold and Silver awards), which includes specialties in medicine and health sciences.

3. Third category: Research Excellence Award in Social Fields, at two levels (Gold and Silver awards), which includes specialties in social and humanitarian sciences.

Award Requirements

1. To be eligible for the award, the candidate must be a faculty member at the university at the time of applying for the award. If the research is a collaborative work, the principal researcher or the corresponding researcher must be a staff member at the university.
2. The primary affiliation of the candidate for the award must be Shaqra University in all the submitted works, and the name must be spelled correctly.
3. The scientific contributions of the candidate for the award must have been completed during the two years preceding the award nomination.
4. Any of the works cannot be resubmitted, in case the candidate has won the award in a previous cycle.

Award Prize

The prize amount varies depending on the category of the award.

The amount of the award is according to the following Categories:

• First Category: Scientific Specializations:
  • Gold Level: a cash award of twenty thousand (20,000) riyals.
  • Silver Level: a cash award of ten thousand (10,000) riyals.
• Second Category: Medical Specializations:
  • Gold Level: a cash award of twenty thousand (20,000) riyals.
  • Silver Level: a cash award of ten thousand (10,000) riyals.
• Third Category: Social Specializations:
  • Gold Level: a cash award of twenty thousand (20,000) riyals.
  • Silver Level: a cash award of ten thousand (10,000) riyals.
