Units

General Supervisor of the Legal Department:
Provides overall supervision of the Department, follows up on the implementation of assigned tasks, and distributes work among its units.

Director of the Legal Department:
Oversees administrative affairs and follows up on the Department’s administrative needs.

Litigation Unit:
Reviews cases, prepares legal responses and pleadings, and represents the University in legal proceedings in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Judgment Monitoring and Analysis Unit:
Reviews judgments issued against the University, identifies the causes and parties responsible, and proposes measures to address shortcomings and prevent their recurrence in the future.

Laws and Regulations Unit:
Reviews proposed regulations, rules, contracts, and agreements to ensure their compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Human Rights Unit:
Serves as the liaison between the University and the National Human Rights Commission and the National Society for Human Rights, and ensures that the University’s internal regulations are consistent with human rights laws and regulations.

Occupational Discipline Unit:
Reviews, examines, and investigates referred violations in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Support Services and Technical Support Unit:
Handles secretarial duties, including document copying, printing letters, and correspondence.

Minutes and Committees Review Unit:
Reviews and examines minutes and committee proceedings in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

About

The Legal Department plays a vital role as a supporting entity within the University. It reviews cases, decisions, and contracts, and provides legal advice and observations in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. The Department represents the University in lawsuits and legal proceedings, participates in administrative investigations, and reviews complaints and grievances to determine their merits.

The Department works to uphold the University’s commitment to justice and fairness and collaborates with various departments and institutions across the University to ensure that rights are upheld and delivered to their rightful holders. At the same time, it safeguards the University’s rights and interests, which form part of the broader rights of the State, while ensuring the protection of its employees against injustice and supporting them in obtaining their employment-related rights and other rights recognized under applicable laws.

Accordingly, the Legal Department seeks to ensure that all University employees are aware of their rights and duties and undertakes to promote a culture of rights and responsibilities, as well as legal awareness in matters related to the University.

The Legal Department reports directly to the University President and consists of specialized legal advisors with expertise in legal studies, laws, and regulations. The Department is responsible for carrying out its duties in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and instructions, while providing legal opinions within their framework. It also includes a team of administrative staff responsible for administrative, secretarial, and document reproduction tasks under the supervision of the Director of the Legal Department.
