About Faculty

The college was established in the academic year 1425/1426 AH under the name "Health Institute for Girls." The study system consisted of two and a half years of coursework plus a training period, and graduates were awarded a diploma. Later, in the academic year 1428/1429 AH, it was transformed into the College of Health Sciences, with a study system of three years plus a training period, leading to the associate university degree. In the same year (1428 AH), the College of Health Sciences for Girls in Shaqra was affiliated with King Saud University, where the study system was extended to four years plus an internship year, and graduates were awarded a bachelor’s degree. Subsequently, in 1430 AH, Shaqra University was established, and the college became part of it under the name "College of Applied Medical Sciences in Shaqra," with a new department for male students added. The Department of Medical Laboratories Sciences was launched in 1431 AH, followed by the Departments of Nursing Sciences and Health Rehabilitation in 1433 AH. To this day, the college comprises these three departments and offers the following bachelor's programs:
1- Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences
2- Bachelor of Nursing Sciences
3- Bachelor of Physical Therapy
Additionally, the college offers several other programs, including a Master’s degree in Clinical Laboratories and bridging programs in Medical Laboratories and Nursing.

Vice Deanship

 

The Vice Deanship at the College of Applied Medical Sciences in Shaqra is dedicated to ensuring the quality of educational outcomes and enhancing the educational process to achieve academic and research excellence. The Vice Deanship works to apply both international and local quality standards for academic accreditation by checking academic plans and making sure they meet job market needs and community requirements.

It works to enrich the educational environment by adopting teaching strategies that foster academic excellence. Additionally, it aims to support faculty members in developing their professional and academic skills through regular training programs and workshops while motivating them to deliver their best to achieve the college’s educational goals.

The Vice Deanship focuses on the continuous improvement of curricula and academic programs to ensure sustainable quality in the educational process. It monitors academic performance through precise evaluation mechanisms based on clear performance indicators. Its efforts also include enhancing student and administrative services and providing a learning environment that encourages creativity and innovation.

Moreover, the Vice Deanship seeks to promote a culture of quality among college affiliates and direct efforts toward strengthening community partnerships to achieve the strategic goals of both the college and the university. It also aims to keep improving the college's overall performance, helping to prepare skilled graduates who can meet job market needs and support national development.

The Vice Deanship for Educational Affairs is a supervisory and organizational body within university colleges that aims to develop and enhance academic and educational aspects by improving academic performance and ensuring that education aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. This Vice Deanship is responsible for overseeing all activities related to the educational process, such as curricula, academic plans, scheduling, monitoring students’ academic progress, and ensuring the quality of education.

It also strives to promote active student participation in academic and cultural activities that contribute to the development of their personal and professional skills. In this spirit, we encourage our male and female students to take full advantage of all available educational opportunities so they may become ambassadors of knowledge and creativity, representing the university and the nation in both local and international forums.
 

 

The Vice Deanship for Female Students Affairs at the College of Applied Medical Sciences is responsible for overseeing all academic and administrative aspects related to the college’s female staff and students. It aims to provide a stimulating educational environment that supports students academically and skillfully, encourages them to achieve academic excellence, and promotes active participation in university activities and scientific forums.The vice deanship also coordinates continuously with academic departments on all matters related to female students, ensuring smooth academic procedures and quality services, while supervising the implementation of the regulations approved by the college and the university.
It strives to enhance the efficiency of the educational process, improve the quality of academic and administrative services, and foster a positive university environment that empowers students and supports their scientific and professional development. Furthermore, the vice deanship works toward achieving the vision and mission of both the college and the university.
It also seeks to strengthen cooperation and integration among the various departments and units within the college to enhance the efficiency and quality of work and to support programs of development and improvement.
 

Units

Public Relations and Media Unit

    The administrative unit responsible for connecting the college with internal and external entities by facilitating and following up on related procedures. It also handles all matters related to media and its associated functions.    This unit communicates with the public and relevant entities through various media channels, disseminates news, achievements, and events of the college, receives guests and visitors, and participates in organizing various activities.

Admission and Registration Unit
"    "The Admission and Registration Unit is an administrative body that aims to organize and manage all processes related to student admission into various academic programs, as well as to oversee their course registration throughout their study period. This unit serves as a vital link between students and the colleges, contributing directly to facilitating academic and administrative procedures.
"    "• Admission Procedures: Managing and organizing the admission processes for new students in coordination with the academic departments within the college and the Deanship of Admission and Registration at the university.

• Academic Registration: Preparing class and examination schedules in coordination with the academic departments, in addition to implementing add/drop procedures according to the academic program plans and ensuring the absence of scheduling conflicts.

• Academic Records Management: Monitoring students’ academic records, including course grades, course modification or withdrawal requests, attendance records, and other matters related to academic performance.

• Student Inquiries: Responding to students’ inquiries regarding admission and registration processes and providing the necessary support in resolving academic issues.

The Admission and Registration Unit plays a vital role in organizing the academic process within the college and ensuring effective communication between students and the academic administration.

Graduate Studies Unit  

  The Graduate Studies Unit is an academic body dedicated to organizing and managing all matters related to postgraduate programs, including master’s and doctoral degrees. The unit provides academic and administrative support to postgraduate students and coordinates all activities related to scientific research and the development of advanced skills in their respective fields, in collaboration with the academic departments within the college and the Deanship of Graduate Studies at the university.  

• Management of Graduate Programs: Organizing and managing all graduate programs offered by the college in coordination with the academic departments and the Deanship of Graduate Studies at the university, ensuring the application of academic standards in student admission and study organization.

• Admission Procedures: Coordinating and facilitating the admission process for graduate students by determining admission requirements, application timelines, and required documents, as well as verifying submitted materials in collaboration with the relevant departments.

• Academic Supervision: Providing specialized academic supervision for graduate students, including monitoring their academic progress, guiding thesis and dissertation preparation, and ensuring the quality of scientific research.

• Coordination with Academic Departments: Working closely with various academic departments within the college to ensure effective coordination and the provision of necessary academic resources for graduate students.

• Professional Development: Offering training programs and workshops for graduate students in areas such as scientific research, academic writing, and the use of modern statistical methods, thereby supporting their thesis development and enhancing their academic skills.

• Research Support: Encouraging students to conduct innovative scientific research that contributes to advancing their fields of specialization and providing them with the necessary academic and library resources.

The unit also ensures the quality of education and the achievement of the intended learning outcomes of the academic programs.    "• Curriculum Design: Developing curricula that include the courses and lectures offered within various academic programs, ensuring comprehensive coverage of both theoretical and practical aspects required by each program.

• Curriculum Updating: Periodically reviewing and updating curricula to keep pace with scientific and technological advancements and to align with labor market demands, while incorporating modern educational methodologies.

• Academic Plan Development: Establishing comprehensive academic plans for each program that include objectives, learning outcomes, course timelines, and academic distribution.

• Coordination with Colleges and Departments: Collaborating with different academic departments to ensure that curricula align with scientific disciplines and graduation requirements.

• Academic Quality Assurance: Ensuring that curricula and academic programs meet the quality standards set by the Deanship of Development and Quality at the university, the Education and Training Evaluation Commission, and the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Evaluation (NCAAA).

• Academic Support: Providing consultation and assistance to faculty members regarding the implementation of new curricula and the preparation of suitable teaching materials.

• Keeping Pace with Global Academic Developments: Monitoring the latest trends in higher education at both local and international levels and applying best practices to enhance curriculum quality.

• Promoting Innovation and Creativity: Encouraging the adoption of innovative teaching methods such as e-learning, interactive programs, and courses that foster critical thinking and creativity among students.

• Reviewing Student Evaluation Reports: Analysing student feedback and performance reports related to academic courses to identify areas for improvement and enhance curriculum effectiveness.

Scholarship Unit    The unit aims to follow up on the affairs of scholarship students both locally and abroad, providing the necessary support throughout the scholarship period.    Follow up on the affairs of the college’s sponsored students throughout their scholarship period until their return.•        Supervise scholarship procedures in coordination with the relevant departments at the university.•        Maintain regular communication with sponsored students to provide academic and administrative support.•        Update and maintain student records and files on a regular basis.•        Prepare reports on the progress and achievements of sponsored students.•        Develop statistical summaries and relevant data pertaining to scholarship affairs.
