## Responsibilities of the Scientific Chairs Management

Pursuant to the Executive Rule of Article Twenty-Six of the Executive Rules of Shaqra University concerning **Chapter Six: Research Chairs** of the **Scientific Research and Innovation Regulations for Universities**, the Scientific Chairs Management is responsible for supervising the University's research chairs, in addition to any other duties assigned to it by the Permanent Committee for Research Chairs. Its responsibilities include the following:

### Administrative Responsibilities

1. Preparing agreements for the establishment of research chairs.
2. Developing the regulations and procedures governing the operation of research chairs.
3. Conducting follow-up activities, compiling statistics, and processing data related to the operation and achievements of research chairs.
4. Issuing publications and reports on the performance of the Research Chairs Program.
5. Managing administrative communications.
6. Handling public relations activities.
7. Following up and facilitating requests submitted by research chair supervisors and faculty members with the University's various administrative units.
8. Providing the necessary support for workshops, seminars, and meetings organized by research chairs.
9. Performing any other duties assigned by the General Supervisor of the Scientific Chairs Management.

### Financial Responsibilities

1. Reviewing the budgets and financial reports of research chairs and submitting them to the Permanent Committee.
2. Processing the financial rewards and allowances for the staff of the Scientific Chairs Management.
3. Preparing all financial forms and documentation related to the Management's financial affairs.
4. Performing any other financial duties assigned by the General Supervisor of the Scientific Chairs Management.

The Prince Faisal bin Bandar Chair for Artificial Intelligence Technologies in Smart Cities is a scientific and academic initiative established to advance research and innovation in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its applications in smart cities. The Chair serves as a platform for developing intelligent technologies and innovative solutions that enhance urban living, improve public services, and contribute to sustainable city development.

To become a leading center for innovation and scientific research in Artificial Intelligence technologies for smart cities, contributing to the development of intelligent and integrated solutions that enhance quality of life, improve sustainability, and optimize resource management in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030

 Mission

To conduct applied research and develop innovative AI-based solutions that support digital transformation, improve public services, and promote innovation in smart cities through strategic collaboration with government entities, industry, and research partners.

 Objectives

* Develop AI-powered systems for traffic analysis, traffic flow optimization, and intelligent road and parking management.
* Design smart solutions for the efficient management of energy, water, and waste resources.
* Develop innovative AI applications to address infrastructure challenges in major cities.
* Provide consulting services and innovative solutions to government and private-sector organizations to improve urban management.
* Utilize AI-driven monitoring and data analytics to enhance urban safety and security, including early warning systems, crisis management, and smart crime monitoring.
* Apply Artificial Intelligence technologies in healthcare to support predictive analytics, personalized medical services, and improved emergency response, thereby enhancing quality of life.
 

About

Scientific Chairs Management is the entity responsible for overseeing the university's research chairs and operates under the supervision of the Chair of the Permanent Committee for Research Chairs. The General Supervisor of the Management is appointed based on the nomination of the Vice Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research and by a decision of the University President.

The Management is responsible for a range of core administrative and financial functions to ensure the effective operation and governance of the university's research chairs.
